Day 7Idaho and Montana
Into Idaho, and we stopped down by Coeur D'Alene lake, watching the world go by for a bit. There were sea-planes landing and taking off from the lake and there was a tubby (I'm being kind) boy, launching himself off the jetty into the water. There was also a little lad, who appeared to be vaguely 'absent' and spent his time, tipping coins out from his shoe, and counting them! We walked around a little and there were sprinklers watering the grass. As it was so hot, I decided to walk through one of these, for the cooling effects of the spray, but the darned thing turned around just as I walked through and drenched me right through!!! Paul wouldn't walk with me, muttering something about "wet T-shirt competitions", and we had to go back to the car, where I had to change out of my wet clothes! So we drove around the lake a bit and then left Idaho (so soon!) and entered Montana.
We stopped a few times, at the motorway stops along the way - as the scenery got more glorious by the mile!
At Missoula, we exited on Reserve Street, as per the instructions. Reserve Street was filled with stores, supermarkets and eateries! We went into Walmart to get some grub - and also into Subway for our supper (as it was getting quite late).
The directions we'd been given to Blue Mountain B&B were excellent and we found our way there with no problem at all. Up a ricketty, windy unpathed hill - and we were there! It was so beautiful! We parked outside the Lewis & Clark Lodge, which was surrounded by tall trees and ground cover of cornflowers and poppies. Brady beckoned us, from the big house, to go up to him. So we did that and (after having to walk along a wooden pathway with 'gaps', which seemed to amuse the hub, as he knows how much I hate them!), we were introduced to Elaine and to their dog, Kitsune - they did say which make he was, but I've forgotten. Paul then put our pin over Plymouth on the map and we were taken down to the lodge and our accommodation. WOW! First, we went into the upstairs recreation room, which was enormous and beautifully fitted out! At one end was a pool table (and a toilet and a cupboard stocked full of videos, cd's and dvds) and a fridge, coffee maker, microwave - and at the other end were the most divinely comfortable sofas, dvd machine and a mini-cinema set up! Paul was practically drooling! Then we were taken down to our rooms, which were equally divine! Paul had the Bitterroot room, which had a great big lodgepole bed, a great bathroom with spa bath, a load of stuffed creatures, many interesting artefacts and a view to die for! Our room, the Sagebrush Suite, also had an enormous lodgepole bed (with covers of that faux suede stuff), a sitting area with loads of very interesting western memorabilia - and a bathroom with corner spa bath. Oh and a view to die for! How we wouldn't mind living there!!
We relaxed for the evening - sitting in the lounge, sitting on the decks - mesmerised by the place! We started to watch some weird Bruce Willis film on the 'big screen', but it was rubbish, so we turned that off and T and P played pool, while I watched a short film on Lewis and Clark! All was wonderful, until hub decided to micro some popcorn - 'cooked' it until it was frazzled - had to take the steaming, smoking mess outside - and the whole place stunk to high heaven!!! We slept like babies. (Again).
