Day 18Vancouver and White Rock
Then I phoned Heather to ask "where are you", and she was downstairs having coffee outside Beaujangles! Her car was parked over in the Safeway car-park and off we went! (The car had a speedo with a mind of it's own!) My goodness, Heather did us proud today - we saw so much of Vancouver!
We then drove to North Vancouver and to the Lonsdale Quay Market. This was another bustling place, with fabulous views over to Vancouver downtown. I had never seen so many food outlets under one roof - the International Food Court, it's called - I'll say!!!! We finally went with the Chicken Chalet option and enjoyed our lunch, sitting outside, watching the world go by! Then we had a look around the shops, upstairs from the food court.
Heading back over the bridge, Heather then drove us around English Bay, over Burrard Bridge, to Vanier Park and the museums there. I bought a bracelet in the museum shop - oh, and a totem pole! Then we sat enjoying the view, for quite some time, chatting (and giggling a bit) about this and that. It was very peaceful there.
We continued around the coast a bit, and then, crossing over the Oak Street Bridge, around the suburbs of Richmond and Delta (saw the WalMarts where Alana works!) to firstly Crescent Beach, where Heather used to go to contemplate and renew her spirit - and then to White Rock. It was great to see the place I'd heard so much about! Soon, we met up with her daughters and a first 'hello' to Karen, who was very nice. Both girls were very nice indeed - a credit to their mother! As it was chilly, we decided not to sit outside any of the restaurants, but, chose instead, to sit inside Troll's seafood restaurant, where we enjoyed an hour or so of good food, convivial conversation, and the opening of my (very early!) birthday presents!!! Lovely gifts - THANK YOU!
Finally, after a little shopping, it was time to bid adieu to Alana and Karen and Heather drove us back to the Times Square Suites. It was raining by now, and she had a little problem with the windscreen wipers! We lingered for a while, chatting, outside the suites building - but there was no 'goodbye'. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
