Day 1

To Heathrow

A fair morning and we were away by 10:00am, leaving the bunny in Harold's hands and the goldfish at my Dad's. We had had a great deal of problem getting all of our luggage into the car and had to put down part of the back seat, but it was no big deal. We turned off at the 'bump' between Taunton and Bristol and drove along some quite pretty countryside to Chew Valley Lake, where we stopped and ate our picnic lunch (Marksy's yummies and hard-boiled eggs! :))

I don't think we'd stop there again. Then it was off through Bath, onto the M4 and directly to the Sheraton Skyline at Heathrow. Heavenly beds again - but, this time, only one king and a rollout for Paul. Most impressively, we actually managed to get a room with a view of one of the runways!!

Not sure whether that was good for the nerves or not! We parked the car where it would stay parked for the duration of our trip and then walked down to the airport fence for a closer look at the landings! Very noisy and, by now, very warm.

Next stop, the executive lounge for freebie grub and then we watched Argentina v Mexico, had a glass of wine and then went to sleep!

Yes, the day was as exciting as that! Actually, the most exciting thing that happened was my losing hub's grey fleece - the one he'd been searching for for months. It was 'just right'. And I lost it. Apparently, it was draped over one of the cases which I wheeled from the car. It must've fallen off. Nobody had handed in a fleece and all suspicions were laid on the man in the lift who had asked where he could buy a cheap meal ....
